The North American Hockey League announced its Divisional Stars of the Week today for weekending October 16 and Rebels forward Carter Woolley was name the East Division’s player of the week while teammate Mareks Mitens was named second star of the week.
Woolley had two points over the weekend (one goal and one assist although it appeared that he scored the Rebels first goal during Saturday night’s game). The Bloomfield Hills, MI native has four points in eleven games this season. “ I cannot think of anyone more deserving or who has worked harder for what Carter has done” stated Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “Carter is on a great path of development right now and he is a phenomenal teammate who is getting better daily” concluded Coombs. This is the first time Woolley has received any type of league recognition.
Mitens went 3 – 0 this past week (including a shutout, his fourth on the season) with a 1.50 goals against average and .967 save percentage. This is the third time Mitens has been recognized by the league. He was named honorable mentioned for weekending October 2 and as well honorable mentioned for player of the month.
Woolley is the fifth Rebel to receive some type of league honor so far during this young season.
